Busting Orthodoxies for Good
Katherine von Jan
When Copernicus revealed that the earth was not the center of the universe, conventional thinking of the time made it impossible for most to accept a new truth – a truth that eventually would unlock enormous progress and a scientific revolution.
Today the customer revolution is underway: the is customer at the center of the universe. Whether that's students in the education universe, or citizens in the city-universe, they expect more. Similarly, with this shift, institutions struggle to seriously reimagine their world inside out. Why? What uncomfortable thinking challenges our institutions and stands in the way of progress? Ultimately, how can we do what's right, if conventional thinking holds us back?
We'll share our orthodoxy-busting methodology illustrated with stories from our work with the United Nations and other leading organizations. We'll question why things are done the way they are – at what cost – and how to make room for new rules and means to seize innovation for good.
